It depends on an iPad, which is a device you have to own, insure and eventually replace. If you do not have one, the Register is usually better value once you add the tablet in.

Which iPads work with it?
Square publishes a compatibility list and it changes as models age. We check yours before you order rather than after.
What happens when my iPad stops getting updates?
You replace the iPad, not the stand. Worth factoring in — it is the one ongoing cost people forget with this option.
Can the customer see the screen?
It rotates, so yes when you want it to. It is not a permanent second screen like the Register.
