When it is the wrong answer
It is more till than a lot of businesses need. If you sell a short list of things at one counter and your prices rarely change, a Terminal and a good routine will serve you better and cost less. We have talked people out of this one.

Do I need an iPad for it?
No, and that is a real saving. Everything is built into the unit.
Is it worth it over a Stand?
If you want the customer-facing screen, or you would rather not own and replace an iPad, yes. If you already have an iPad and the counter is quiet, a Stand is the sensible answer.
Will it cope with a proper rush?
That is what the second generation is built for. The processing and memory are well beyond what a counter till needs, which is the point.
