I work alone from a van. Is this worth it?
Usually yes. The Starter plan means no subscription, and a Terminal means you stop losing days to chasing payment.
Can I take a deposit and the balance later?
Yes. Deposit at booking, balance on completion, both against the same job. You can also save a card on file for regulars so recurring work bills itself.
Does it do invoices as well as card payments?
It does. Send an invoice from your phone, and the client pays by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank transfer from the email. Overdue reminders go out automatically.
What if I don't have signal on site?
Square processes offline and syncs when you're back in coverage. Worth knowing if you work in basements, rural properties or new builds.
Can I charge different rates for different clients?
Yes — price lists per client type, plus quotes and estimates that convert into invoices once accepted, so you're not retyping the same numbers.
